Dapple ($4.99)

This Streaming Colour Studio’s presentation is one that has taken a spot on our docks because of it’s extremely fun gameplay. That plus the intergration of color mixing basics and beautiful presentation make Dapple a definite must have.

Uniquely Different

The object of the game is quite simple. You match your current paint color with any existing gameboard paints. Try to match a minimum of four paint squares to eliminate the paints. Create bigger chains for higher points. Strategically eliminate paint colors to set of chains that will dynamically affect your whole board for more points.

Colorful Word

Take a look at their menu screen and the help screen… aren’t they just very well executed design wise? The layout is outstanding as well:

The gameboard as seen previously actively manages to maximize the iPhone screen. Your brush and paint are at the bottom and the scores on top. Very organized looking and not distracting.

Special Bonuses

The inclusion of a classic  and timed mode, and a color matching screen (in case you forget your basic colors and their mixes) are great additions to the game.

Classic mode is really our preferred way of playing the game. There’s no time limit, and you can play ’til infinity without getting pressured. If you’re somewhat of a sadist anyway, try going against the Timed mode. Yes it does start slow but as you progress, you’ll find yourself screaming over panic.

Two more features that shouldn’t be left unsaid are the two player mode and the soundtrack. The two player mode is something that can’t be found on your casual puzzle games. As you access this mode, Dapple splits the screen into two including the addition of a second paint and brush for the second player. It covers half of the screen and you can only touch the ones not blackened out.

The soundtrack is just as colorful and cheerful as Dapple’s graphics. We could have not suggested another sound that would suit the game well because it just simply comes with one.

Conclusion

Dapple is really a wonderful gem amongst the puzzle polluted AppStore. It takes something basic and combines it with a unique gameplay. Everyone looking for an entertaining puzzle should stop just now.

Dapple is the one for you. The game may not appeal to the $0.99 cent crowd but don’t be a part of that. Trust us that this is well worth $4 more than the store’s ridiculous average price.

I love this game, the price may put some people off, but this one is without a doubt well worth the asking price.
