Reflexion ($1.99)
What’s a brick breaker game without paddles? The answer is exactly in front of your eyes. Reflexion ditches the customary stationary paddle and goes for something extremely unique with draw-your-own-paddles! In a game where power ups and wonderful brick explosions are present, draw your owns is definitely Reflexion’s strength.
Extremely Polished
The game is harbored with elegant menu layout, navigation and animation. Reflexion loads with its logo including bars that fill the bar from its center. After that mini opening clip, the logo gets push back to the top and you get the main menu:

The menu button taps in and out of navigation through bright white lights which we thought was really cool. Couple the sounds, and we say Reflexion is flawless on this category.
Controls
TakeĀ a look at the game’s control screen:

The controls are very intuitive and are easily picked up the first go around. Swipe to create paddles, tap to launch ball and shake for slow motion (we’ll get to this on the next section).
Paddles can actually be rotated/slanted as you’re drawing them to put a “kick” on it and push balls away.
Gameplay
Drawing paddles is easy as pie, but on later levels, where and how fast you put them matters vastly. Reflexion starts off easy without any black holes anywhere around the screen. It’s a fully enclosed box which transforms to the ones below:

Black holes are introduced and the walls get tighter. Strategy and quick thinking are required if you want to keep moving on to the next level.
Of course, what’s a great brick breaker game without cool power ups and downs AND cool brick explosions. Let’s start off with multiple balls. Power ups can be picked up as soon as it touches any part of the paddle.

…and a couple more we like: double paddle and burning ball:

Slow motion is also included in the game. To activate it, simply shake the device. Slow motions are timed. Look at the double paddle screenshot. When the number on top center goes to 0, you’ve ran out of slow motion juice until you pick up more as you play more.
More Goodies!
Puzzle mode. Some special levels are designed through some of the most iconic gaming images/characters of the past. Like the one below. These are accessible from the main menu > Puzzle Mode:

Non Linear Levels/Stages. Reflexion does not give you the same set of puzzles each and every time. This is an excellent feature. The levels are randomized and yet ranked within difficulties as well.
Conclusion
What the game really needs is online high scores and that’s about it. Reflexion follows the mute switch, has great gameplay and sounds, nice icon and all. There simply is no better brick breaker game in the store. The complexity of drawing your own paddles is the backbone of the game. It gives a refreshing twist to this popular gaming genre that the game almost sacrificed itself to be included in the genre.
Reflexion is technically every bit, a brick breaker game. However, the design and gameplay makes it more than just that and elevates itself from the rest.

Cripes, nice review. I like when devs take a risk in trying to throw new tricks into old formulas. You get great games like this.
Wow, that looks awesome!
Draw your own paddles?? CRAZY!
Totally throwing a wrench into the genre!
I’m a fan of brick breaker games, and this does look like the best one in the App store, so far. Great review!

Wow, this game looks fantastic. Very original thinking behind this and the game play and graphics look great. I always like how you guys break up your app reviews into sections so it’s easy to follow and set up like an outline.I have quite a few of the brick breaker games already, and I’m looking forward to adding this one as well. I hope I win, but if I don’t, I wont mind paying only $2 for this.
Wow! Awesome! I love brick breaker and this game looks fun.

This looks like a really innovative block breaker game. And I love how long and detailed the review was
Drawing your own paddles sounds well good!
This is the first brickbreaker-type game in the App Store that’s really gotten my interest. I’m wondering though (since you didn’t really say) – what actually happens with regard to the “black holes”? Do you simply lose the ball? Does it disappear and reappear somewhere else?
I was initially leery of the whole “draw your own paddle” thing would work but after reading the review and watching some vids I’m pretty stoked to add this game to my collection.
Whoops. The black holes actually causes you to die. If you die 3 times, it’s game over and you’re back to level 1 ;/
