Perfect Balance: Harmony ($0.99)

Perfect  Balance is the sophisticated Topple. The main difference is that Perfect Balance offers puzzle style gameplay where in Topple you try to stack pieces and reach heights. Perfect Balance finds the middle ground between what makes Topple a successful iPhone game and the zen like feel to it (See Zen Bound).

Zen Topple

We believe that the flash version of Perfect Balance surfaced way before Topple hit the iPhone. Just to be clear, we’re only making Topple references just because it arrived earlier on our devices.

Perfect Balance’s presentation, animation and sounds are all synchronized to deliver zen. It achieves what Zen Bound did overall even if the graphics cannot be directly compared to it. The objects you need to stack to stabilize puzzles look more amazing in action than on the screens. We especially love the part where it the objects turn bright white and explode with rays of lights:

Gameplay

The goal in Perfect Balance is to stack the pieces given above the dashed line to the bottom area of the screen. All pieces need to be stable otherwise you’ll have to try again.

The shapes can be rotated by tapping on any area of the screen. Shapes can be dragged from above the dashed line to the gameboard. Word of caution: once you let go, that’s it! The shape either balances or falls off, so be careful. The game starts off easy with more straight edged shapes then becomes a b#*ch and throws circular and triangular shapes at you. It’s all good though, we like increasing difficulty to keep us at the edge of our seats.

Suggestions

• Please please please let us be able to pick up the pieces if we accidentally let go of them. It’s tiresome having to start all over again.
• How about saving our solutions for the levels completed? This should only be an option and not a default feature.

Conclusion

Perfect Balance is a perfect fit for the iPhone. Touch controls, small screen and sounds all coordinate wonderfully. It’s funny how it seems more of an iPhone original than what it really is. Watch out for the Inferno version! Something tells us it’s nastier and more fun.

Meanwhile, get with it and download the game for the insane $0.99 price. Perfect Balance will keep you entertained for hours!
