Let’s assume most of our readers out there went out and both iPhone 3GS. I sure did yesterday.
If you want to sync on the same machine (aka PC to PC, Mac to Mac), you should not have problems whatsoever. You simply restore from the last backup your old iPhone made.
I’m not so lucky however that I want to sync with new MacBook Pro. Here’s what I stumbled upon while syncing my old apps MANUALLY!
3GS Has Gone OCD
Now here’s the thing with 3GS, it auto alphabetizes apps you sync since you plugged in your device to your PC/Mac.
This maybe a cool new feature to some of you but I hate it.
The games I need to review are in the very last pages. What I had to do was unplug and plug the device back in so that unreviewed apps will start their own auto arrange sequence.

This isn’t a new feature. If you haven’t set any custom positions on the SpringBoard then when iTunes rebuilds the app cache it will always rebuild it in alphabetical order (AFTER apple’s supplied apps first of course).
It’s a new feature to you because you weren’t restoring from your previous backup. If you set a custom position on one of the apps then you should see the behavior stop for the most part, newly installed apps will appear in alphabetical order but none of your other apps will be rearranged
