It’s not a secret that this iPhone site has been craving for Audiosurf for the iPhone. The Audiosurf guys are still doubtful the platform would succeed with songs fragments still locked in the device.
Well at least one company sees a future and wants to conquer this untapped market… Tapulous announced today at the Rock and Roll Event, a new upcoming game which has a similar genetic makeup to Audiosurf… Riddim Ribbon!
We introduced IMP Surf a couple days ago and touted it the closest thing to Audiosurf. Well sorry folks, THIS is the closest thing to Audiosurf.
We got all the details including screenshots, product information and even a RELEASE DATE…
Me Want Some Ribbons!
The first incarnation of the game is a partnership with the Black Eyed Peas! One of the group’s frontman, Will.I.Am is said to be handling the beats packaged in the app. There will be default content when you purchase the app and of course, just like I Am T-Pain, more songs can be downloaded in app.
As far as the gameplay is concerned:
In Riddim Ribbon, the game-player’s goal is to race down a ribbon track and clear checkpoints, all while following the groove of the music beat. Gamers tilt their iPhone or iPod touch side to side to stay on the track. If the player falls out of the groove, the music gets distorted or muffled. Miss the beat too badly, and their music track will is stripped down to its base beats – people will need to work their way back up to the full rich sound. Navigate hoops and jumps to layer on additional sound effects.
If that doesn’t sound like Audiosurf to you, get yourself checked

Special Mix!
Tapulous can now also reveal an interactive feature native the the game: creating and sharing mixes! This feels like the I Am T-Pain app only cooler:
Players can share the Riddim Ribbon experience with their friends. After completing a game and creating their own mix, players can share that mix with a friend and challenge him or her to beat the newly-created track. In addition to the bundled Black Eyed Peas game levels, additional levels will be available for inapp purchase. The first such special level will be by world-renowned artist Tiësto, who has been named the number one DJ in the world by DJMag three times.

Release Information
We don’t have anything more than an “OCTOBER” release date ballpark figure. Pricing is also still unknown at this point. Once we know more what are we going to do? Call Ghostbusters! Let you know as well!

I hope you don’t have to buy every damn song with this game.
whoop.
+1 to the “I don’t want o buy each damn song.” So, Does this one have world judges?
This game looks almost exactly like IMP: Surf the Music that came out on the App Store last week…. you tilt the device to move left and right and generate the music as you go along, you even create unique mixes every time you play by choosing different paths.
It’s EXACTLY like imp. Does RR use music from your phone or are you stuck with the Black Eyed Peas?
Reminds me a bit of wipeout for ps3. This makes me happy. IMP looks awful and from the screen shots appears to be a cross between Snail Mail and the Barcleys waterslide game. This game looks pretty decent in comparison!
In IMP you actually generate all of the music as you play, in RR you can see in the video it just snaps you to a line and then plays predetermined music for you. Plus you're probably going to have to pay for every new level in RR.
It's October 31, 4:52…waiting
12 November! still not here haha
OMG!
Its November 25th and still not here! What's the deal?
Thanks for taking the time to discuss this, I feel strongly about it and love learning more on this topic. If possible, as you gain expertise, would you mind updating your blog with more information? It is extremely helpful for me.
now they said it's 2-8-2010, yet still NOT available like wthell >.>!!!!
Unless you in the future, 2/8 is this coming MONDAY
