RTS is a genre I’ve been dodging forever. You’d think the world explodes when we finally meet eye to eye. But with this game, it was blissful!

Robocalypse – Mobile Mayhem ($4.99)
Robocalypse is another one of the games we extremely previewed during the past months, so it was a delight to finally play it. The game works VERY well even for E AN9N7E G RTS beginners like me.
Don’t misjudge the game because of it’s kooky looking characters and design. Robocalypse is one of the most “fun-s” I’ve had with the platform in a loooong while.
Presentation
Frankly, I didn’t exactly pay attention to the whole story. From what I remember though, humanity is being attacked by hordes of meanie robots. A company then tries to create good robots to annihilate the bad ones.

While I missed a full grasp on the premise, the dialogues in the cut scenes between the characters are super teh funny. Little bathroom jokes get thrown here and there, but nothing parents should be considered about.

This epic story and humor are carefully intertwined with stunning graphics and presentation that’d make you forget the game was originally on the DS! This game’s born for the iPhone.
Controls
The game does a GREAT job of explaining the controls in the mini tutorial during the very beginning of the game AND through little tips whenever new gameplay elements are introduced.

That said, I’ll give you the basics. The game is playable either landscape or portrait in any direction. Try and switch it around and see how the layout fluidly adjusts to your settings automatically. Everything is tap controlled: from selecting soldiers to placing targets or action arrows.
Gameplay
The game is stretched into 17 mini missions and about 18 multiplayer missions. Missions range from rescuing an orphanage to preventing minefield attacks. Your weapons: a wide armory of heroes and robots.

There are basically four types of robots: soldiers, heroes (more powerful robots), healers and “construction workers”. Soldiers are first in the firing squad while heroes are essentially stronger soldiers. Healers heal the wounded while ‘workers build new towers and collect resources.

Platforms are often found around your basecamp where you can setup hero, soldier, hero, or worker production towers, radars, and even resource generators. All of these towers can be upgraded for faster “completion” time.

Building soldiers or towers isn’t as easy as it sounds. New territories must be captured to earn more battery for building while workers need to continue collecting resources.

Complications arise in this epic battle once stronger enemies attack from multiple locations while you try and remain in control of your forts. Shoot for JUST the mission objectives or do mini missions. Don’t forget to upgrade your heroes for stronger kill or health points.
Suggestions
I have one, and excuse my french: WHAT THE FOOK is that icon? A graphic masterpiece of this caliber gets a mind numbingly stupid icon like THAT! I don’t even know what the hell that character is. Come on guys! Please change it. It’s an injustice to the game. Besides this…
N-A-D-A. These guys know what they’re doing coming out of a more drastic platform. They’ve actually turned a Nintendo DS game into a full pledged iPhone game. Their level of professionalism and expertise is clearly shown by the game.

Conclusion
Honest to god I have NEVER played any of these games! Ever wondered why I’ve never authored a review for this genre?
Besides the game being super enjoyable, flawless and of DS game-like quality (or greater), it’s really astonishing how Vogster never forgot to make the game easily playable by ANYONE!
Robocalypse has certainly gone beyond my expectations and will remain in the highest of iPhone gaming pedestals for a long damn while.
