Yumsters 2 (FREE - This Weekend Only!)

Yumsters are cute stretchy creatures mad about fruit and music. Not only are these Yumsters crazy for strawberries, they can rock the bongos. Get fruitilicious in five vibrant locations of Yumsters 2, a sweet innovative Match 3 puzzler.

My Take

I agree with the synopsis except the match three definition.  You don’t have to match three in this one.  I caught on the gameplay quickly and I really enjoyed the app to further my progress and find new methods.  Lately, I’ve been on a time management kick, this one isn’t quite like that, but the multiple bonus is a nice target to get through.

The Admin here attheAPPera knows what I like and dislike, puzzle apps are high on my list, but they still gotta be good enough to get past the 5 minute mark. Yumsters 2 will be staying in my iPhone for quite a while.

Presentation

The art is dead-on perfect for handheld gaming.  The background is done well, but set back some in color, while the yumsters and fruit is colorful and vibrant.  Not that my eyes are going bad (well they are), anytime you are limited to screen space, you have to take in consideration the visibility.

Back in the day, arcade games were on dark or black backgrounds.  When technology caught up to the ideas programmers and designers had, sometimes the gameplay and its surroundings mud up a bit.  I still see that problem lurking in the App Store, but not in this game!

Controls

Control the Yumsters to eat fruit in order to gain money by cleaning out gardens where to fruit is located. There are holes on the left and right side, tap and drag theyumsters to the hole where they can get to the same colored fruit to eat. As noted, it’s always best to have all the yumsters eating at the same time to get that multiple bonus. Since there’s a lag in the eating part, set yourself up for the next move while theyumster is finishing off their treat.

Game Play

There are 64 levels to eat through with 7 bonus levels and seven different locations, starting in Egypt. It’s up to you to guide theyumsters through the garden, eating as much as possible along the way!

Suggestions

This one is super fine tuned, but if I could ask for a shortened time span on the eating part, that would help.  That’s my biggest peeve.  It’s not because of my iPhone processor speed lagging, it’s how the game is played.  I think it needs to be a tad faster.  Other than that, the game is right on the money and worth the time spent making this gem.

Conclusion

It’s a winner!  I wouldn’t give a second thought, it’s a solid puzzle with time management.  Two genres mixed into one!  The graphics are good, they don’t push the processor too hard and it’s a perfect blend of gameplay and storyline.  If you are still in doubt, just check the comment section from those who have bought this!
