We already know Minigore is the go to “casual” dual stick game for the iPhone but wait til you see what Chillingo’s got for this year!

This game is the actual realization and advancement of the dual stick action/survival genre. With great graphics, actual levels (and bosses), achievements and upticks in difficulty, it’s great that someone has finally realized the power of dual stick controls to put it to use in one epic action/adventure game.
Presentation
So long semi 2.5/2D graphics and hello 3D graphics! To be perfectly honest I went apesh%t upon seeing the first screenshot of Guerrilla Bob and the actual game thankfully didn’t let me down. Graphics and actual animations are some of the best I’ve seen on the platform. It’s really pretty comparable to some PSP games and that’s saying a lot.

The game starts on a desert-y level then you get to trek to some river aboard a little raft and other Arizona-like environments. The artwork progression is always constant along with day and night changes which keeps the game very fresh.
Controls
Line drawing… NOT. Dual stick of course. You get the usual two buttons: left is for moving and right is for firing. You get to walk around through a bunch of levels trying to annihilate the enemies.

Gameplay
The story involves getting revenge on who did Bob wrong. It’s actually quite funny when you read the introduction and find out that John Gore from Minigore actually contributed to some of Bob’s mishaps. It’s then up to Bob to take revenge in good ol Lost‘ Jack vs Locke fashion.

The actual gameplay involves battling different kinds of enemies with different kinds of guns and TNT. Along the way, you get to pick up new guns like bazookas and flamethrower. There are three gun totals all of which you can upgrade their powers… twice.
Medals can also be collected throughout the game for added points. The life system in Guerrilla Bob is through cigar sticks. Deplete the fire on your cigar, and you’re dead. Be on the lookout for health packs and new cigars/lives.

Finally, the game is able to introduce different kinds of dual stick gameplay variations through different level environments. I found myself on flat lands at first then made my way to some river rafting action and had to face a big ol crane trying to crush me. If you do NOT like linear “boring” games, Guerrilla Bob IS the game to get.
Suggestions
There is none as Guerrilla Bob is Chillingo’s FIRST truly high caliber game of 2010. With survival modes and the introduction of the Crystal social network (which means high scores and achievements), Chillingo sure set themselves up with some tall orders to begin the year.
Conclusion
After all that’s been said about the game and you’re still not convinced to buy the game, ummm, just go fricken buy it. Guerrilla Bob takes the dual stick genre to some new levels. And yes, we think this game will actually set a predecessor to the genre the same way Flight Control did for line drawing.

I just got it, and it is amazing.
I like the storyline so far, and the gameplay.
The medals and other stuff aren't really difficult to find, which is a bummer.
I still like Minigore better but this game is definitely up there.

Have we tried restarting? If it still doesnt work please list OS, device info and if you're JB or not and I'll forward it to the devs
