There’s no doubt IUGO has presented us with some of the most recognizable games in the store. With this game, they bring us a nice looking but challenging puzzler!

Implode! ($1.99; FREE)

So I, like every other person on the planet, loved playing with Legos as a kid, but my favorite part wasn’t building with them or playing with them after that. No, it was the destroying of them! IUGO lets me relive my favorite childhood pastime with Implode! as well as forces me to strategize and plan my moves accordingly.

Presentation

Similar to how a lot of iPhone games have used the doodle theme (one I have grown very fond of) in their design, IUGO chose to go with a similar, yet different theme of a chalkboard for which I have started to like a lot. You see measuring sticks, triangles and mathematical formulas all across the green board which are a delight to see.

implode-1

IUGOME even takes the design further by actually grading your scores through what a school’s normal grading system would look like: A, B+, C- etc. The graphics are so good I think I actually like this more now than doodles ;)

Controls

Implode!’s controls are fairly easy. You simply drag and drop the bombs from your bar to the actual building. Placement is important so plan accordingly. Once you’ve settled with your plan, you can just hit the detonate button to make the building explode.

Gameplay

In Implode, you are given a structure that has been drawn on a chalkboard using different segments and are tasked with leveling it to bellow a certain point designated by a dotted line near the bottom of the screen. In order to complete this destruction, you are given a certain number of explosives which you simply drag up using your finger to the location on the building where you want them to be placed.

implode-1

Once you have all of your explosives placed, you simply need to detonate them using the plunger located at the lower left of the screen. If you fail to get it below the line on the screen, you will need to try again. Also you are awarded based on the number of explosives that you use and how low you can get the structure.

implode-1

Throughout the game, you are given different types of explosives such as ones that create a larger blast. Difficulty arises with strong, un-explode-able material and boundaries you can’t touch or else you’d have to restart. With over 100 different levels, Implode provides plenty of entertainment.

Suggestion

Nothing! Implode is one of the best puzzle games and the most updated games overall in the store right now. There’s NOTHING to complain about!

Conclusion

With the fun that comes in destroying a simple to complex structures, I would definitely recommend Implode! At the very least, I would say that it is a must that you check out the lite version which is available for free!

Contest

Which subject in school (whatever level) do you get/got the MOST A+‘s for? Mine’s Computer, I wonder why?!? The coolest answers win a code and I believe we have quite a few to give out so make them count!

I used to get all A+’s in construction technology. I wonder what kind of grades I’ll get with destruction technology?

People still get grades based on letters? Lame. That's like in elementary when they graded you out of 4.

Anyways, it would definitely be math because I always use a as a variable instead of x, especially in quadratic equations. ax^2+bx+c Yeah son! a+b=c Ohhh snap, I just went there!

Earlier in my years it was math. Later on it was computer-related classes.

I wanted to take webdesign classes because back then it was really popular, when making blogs and such were booming.

Mine was Math. My dad was my teacher for 4 years of math. Algebra thru Advanced Math. I was always accused of getting the answers from him at home. He never gave me answers, he just worked me harder than anyone else. Never cut me any slack.

In elementary school, I was pretty good at most subjects. I was also well behaved… except for one time in 5th grade. I had been reading a book on ventriloquism (hey, I thought it was cool back then….). In class, I must have been speaking out of turn. When the teacher told me to keep my mouth closed, I saw it as the perfect opportunity to practice my ventriloquism! When I returned "it is closed," my teacher didn't find it very amusing (and it must not have been very good, because he knew it was me), so he called my mother to share what a horrible child I had been that day. Other than that, I had good marks back then.
