Ladies and gentlemen… coming from the complete left field, Doom 2 RPG iPhone Released: Where’d This Come From? has released an iPhone port of their well received mobile game, Doom 2 RPG. Coming from the people who brought us Wolfenstein RPG, this is quite promising.

The game is a turn-based take on the DOOM universe, and as the story goes, the forces of Hell have invaded our dimension once again, and only you can stop them from their ultimate goal of conquering Earth.

Features
- Battle through 9 maps, spanning the Moon, Earth, and Hell itself. Over 8 hours of gameplay!
- Choose from 3 playable characters, each with different starting attributes and dialogue experiences.
- Over a dozen unique weapons to find, plus improvised weapons such as Sentry Bots or even plumbing fixtures.
- Eleven different enemy types—each with multiple, increasingly-powerful forms—plus four bosses.
- Upgradeable skill attributes allow you to customize your character for maximum lethality.
- Hack security systems to open restricted areas, hijack sentry bots, or lower prices on vending machines.
- Customizable controls; change the size, style, and placement of the control inputs.
- Three levels of difficulty will give players of all skill levels a challenge.
- Detailed graphics and complex levels which take advantage of the power of the iPhone.
- Bonus digital comic included!
We’ll have a full review of the game shortly but would like to ask if there are any early adopters out there, thoughts?

Are you kidding! I bought this the second I found out it was out. Wolfenstein RPG was absolutely amazing and Doom 2 RPG is just as amazing.
Look, lets face it. The iPhone is a great device, but for "mouse/keyboard" games like Wolfenstein 3D, Doom and Quake, it's just not that great. I can't play Eliminate Pro to save my life. It's just too hard to target anyone with the interface currently available to the iPhone/iPod touch.
Turning Wolfenstein and Doom into a turn-based shooter was pure genius! Doing so basically turns the games into whole new games that are a blast to play.
I hope they do the same to Quake, and I would love to see a Duke Nukem RPG as well.

Sorry for the double post there. The OpenID submit gave me feedback that looked like it had failed to log into OpenID. You can kill the "VesperDEM" entry if you want. The OpenID web address for that is: http://VesperDEM.myopenid.com/
