If you’ve been to a circus or at least know what’s going to be in it if you go to one, you’ll be extremely familiar with this game and will feel at home!

Knife Toss is a simple game where you throw knives to burst balloons on a spinning wheel. You cannot hit the clown in the middle or his health depletes. It is a well presented, game and is a great casual game. It can easily waste as little as 30 second bursts, or can be played for as long as 15 minutes or more.
Presentation
This game is presented as a classic game of risk in a circus, where a knife thrower throws knives at a clown on a spinning wheel. Except, you are the knife thrower. And this clown doesn’t get quite so lucky as the real ones. But what you really see instantly, before you ever open the app, is a fabulous icon. No ugly gloss auto-applied, no text or over-complication.

That makes a great first impression on the game itself, a great icon. And it succeeds there. Once launched, you are greeted with a great loading screen, and then into a simple and direct UI that points you to Play, OpenFeint, Options, and Instructions.
Controls
The controls are as simple as tap into the game, and tilt to control your sight. A complaint I had in v1.0 was the lack of auto-calibration. v1.1 fixed this an much more, so that really helped this game another few points. Simply pause and it’ll recalibrate your sight for you automatically, a move that others should make as well.

Gameplay
Jumping into the game, it’s straight forward. You start at Level 1 on Easy, and work your way up. Progress on individual levels isn’t saved should you butcher the clown, so you start from Level 1 again. Simple enough, and very effective.

The gameplay is also dead simple, which makes the perfect formula for an ideal casual game. Anyway, you simply shoot the balloons around the clown, as the wheel begins to spin faster and faster as you progress further. It becomes more difficult, and requires more precision, and prediction to get it exactly right. All in all, the game play is original to the platform, but seems made for it perfectly. An original idea or excellent developing? Here, it may be both.

The graphics are beautiful. They are consistent through out 90% of the UI (aside from OpenFeint, but it’s a familiar UI, and the developer had no options there). The graphics are cartoonish, but sharp and well made. There isn’t much to say. An awesome icon out front, and wonderful looks out back. I couldn’t ask for more appropriate and awesome graphics.
Suggestions
I had some suggestions, but lucky timing saved them here. Version 1.1 fixed literally every suggestion I had. Congratulations Elevate Entertainment.
Conclusion
I’d like to say this. I can easily tell that the developers actually played their game before releasing it to the world, and it has certainly paid off. A great icon, wonderful gameplay, stunning graphics, and a simple, yet addictive game has really got me hooked.

I award it an 8.5/10 for a fabulous effort on the part of the developer. If you love casual games like Doodle Jump, uBoot, or Swingaling, this is your game.
