If the looks of this game don’t make you want to eat some fruit, I don’t know what will. Mind you! If you buy this game, it’s just not the graphics you’ll be clamoring for.

I’m always a sucker for smaller serving iPhone games where you can choose to play them if you’ve a quick 5 minutes or so. This game proves exactly why casual games OWN hardcore iPhone games sometimes. This is deliciously perfect!
Presentation
The game’s design is pretty impeccable. You see 3D fruits all around (there’s even a special one for OpenFeint), and the juice splatter spilled on the wooden board background is pretty cool. Without kidding, I always get hungry from some real fruits whenever I pick up and play this game.

Controls
Slash across the screen to literally slash the fruits. Powerful slashes and some combos should give you higher scores. Also, you’re able to keep your finger on the screen and the fruits will get slashed just fine.

Gameplay
Fruit Ninja’s goal is incredibly simple: slice as much fruits you can without hitting any bombs. If you hit a bomb, it’s game over. Alternatively, missing three fruits consecutively or not will also end the game.

I’m not entirely sure how “critical points” which merit you higher points are awarded but if I’d have to guess, you get them for good fruit slashes. Through out the game, the speed and ratio of fruit to bomb tossed vary which make up for some very enjoying gaming time!

Suggestions
More. modes. please. I extremely see HUUUUUGE potential with the game if they somehow offer more modes to it. It’s funny how Sneezies‘ gameplay modes can be inserted to this and it’d work just fine.
I’d also love to see the ability to further slice already sliced fruits for bigger points as well as new backgrounds instead of just the wooden board.

Conclusion
Fruit Ninja is just so damn addicting and you’ve got the game’s design and gameplay to blame. The game just has that endearing quality to it that’d it would have you slicing fruits hours on end. Just trust me on this, if you have a $1 lying around, do yourself a favor and buy the game already!
