One of the main features I currently enjoy on my iPhone 4 is FaceTime. It’s no secret Apple will be releasing iPod Touch 4 this Fall and quite possibly have FaceTime in it. Ladies and gents, BGR shows us the first proofs:
Basically, the iPod Touch 4′s will use email to connect with each other. This feature also extends to the iPad although, there’s no camera on the current models. The Touch’s however have long been rumored to receive front facing cameras at the very least.
Here’s how the FaceTime using email will be implemented:
Your Apple ID will be registered with your device/s, and that will allow other Apple devices to start a FaceTime call using your email address. Apple will also reportedly make use of push notifications to deliver these incoming FaceTime connection requests as we have been informed there is a push notification detector tied into the FaceTime frameworks in the new iPhone OS 4.1 beta.
Of course the question now is, how can Touch’s FaceTime with iPhone 4 people seeing we use our phone numbers to connect each other right now? The answer to that is still unclear. Apple will probably issue an iPhone 4 update to support FaceTime using email.
But who are we kidding? All these are rumors for now. Let’s all wait and cross our fingers for more details.
