The rumor mill is finally giving the iPad a breather and now focusing back onto the iPod Touch. The latest rumor is that the next iPod Touch will have a glasses-free 3D screen, 3DS style.
At least that’s what Japanese blog Macotakara is claiming. According to their sources, Apple is actually considering this, an approach similar to what Nintendo is doing with the 3DS.
Apple already has 3D-related patents from the past, however this is a bit different. This would mean integrating 3D into the iPod Touch screen without the need of any glasses or accessory, with the 3D panel to be developed by Sharp.
According to a source of a company which provides LCD to Apple, they seems to begin preparing to manufacture small glasses-free 3D LCD panel for iPod touch.
This 3D LCD panel looks similar to Sharp, corp’s LCD which is capable for displaying 3D image without glasses on vertical and horizontal position.
Of course, this is all speculation. I mean, I’m not sure if Steve’s sensitive eyes would like 3D, or if Apple would like to enter this new trend. However a mobile 3D screen from Apple could turn into quite something.
