We already know that the iPad 2 will ship with camera and that all future iOS devices will ship with Photo Booth, but this is something new. 9to5Mac has spotted what could be called “Media Stream”:
“Hidden deep in the iOS 4.3 file system is a new folder titled “Media Stream.” Within that folder is some information about “Photo Streaming.” From the looks of different alerts and plists, it appears that Apple will let iPhone users set up “Photo Streams” that friends could “subscribe” to.”
Why Media Stream you ask? Apple might not just be trying to do photo streaming but video streaming as well. 9To5Mac is also saying this might ship with iOS 5. Assuming it is the iPhone 5 that will ship this Summer, and not a 4GS, the time table for an iOS 5 release around that time seems accurate.
The iPad 2 coming this March/April will most likely ship with iOS 4.3. Once again, iOS 5 for iPad most likely won’t come out until later this year long after the device’s release. But then again, Apple could always ship iOS 5 earlier.
What do you think of this new service? I personally think Ping failed (or at least didn’t launch as successful), maybe this will have better success.
