Frankly you’d think Angry Birds would get the recognition first, but Chillingo is still very happy that another one of their chart topping game took the award. That’s right! This past week, Cut The Rope became the first ever iPhone game to win a BAFTA Award.
On our review of the game, we said: Throwing birds can get boring sometimes, so how about feeding candy to an adorable green monster named Om Nom? Cut The Rope is an inventive puzzle game which will make you even hungrier than Om Nom for more!
“Cut the Rope has been nothing short of a phenomenon on the iOS platform and we’re delighted it’s been recognized by the British Academy,” said Chris Byatte, Co-General Manager of Chillingo. “It is hugely flattering to win for such a prestigious award,” added Efim Voinov, CTO of the game’s developer, Zeptolab. “The whole team is ecstatic!”
In the BAFTAs (an independent charity that supports, develops and promotes the art forms of the moving image by identifying and rewarding excellence, inspiring practitioners and benefiting the public), Cut The Rope other titles from PSP and DS worlds.
This is truly an honor well deserved both for Zepto Lab and Chillingo. A couple of years ago, the iOS world is only both looked down and frowned upon. With this win, let’s hope iOS continues to surge and eventually become a fully pledged gaming “environment”.
