Final Fantasy III iPhone Review: Better Than The DS Version, Best FF iPhone Yet

final-fantasy-iii-01

In 2006, a complete remake of the 1990 classic Final Fantasy III arrived to the Nintendo DS. Last Week, Square Enix released the game again for the iOS platform.

Final Fantasy III ($15.99)

The game is half the price, $15.99, and it is an enhanced version of the DS version with Retina Display support and much better textures. If you think this is too expensive, then you’re not a dedicated iOS gamer!

Presentation

The  DS’s graphics have been enhanced and they look much smoother and are quite detailed. However you will notice the detail in some places is better than others, that is because not all of them have been redone. But who cares? It’s FF3 on your Retina Display!! Which if you don’t have one, then you don’t have an iPhone… The graphics aren’t a 10, but they are waaay better than that $30 DS version.

Controls

The touch-based controls are very easy to use. All you need to do is tap your command and then tap your target. You can tap and drag your finger anywhere on the screen to bring up a smooth joystick to that is used to navigate your characters and you can also zoom in anywhere you want on the beautiful display.

Gameplay

The fantasy takes place on a floating continent and your four Warriors of Light are on a mission to restore balance to their world after it was plagued by dark forces. Throughout the game you will travel through different towns, dungeons, and cross the HUGE continent on foot, by boat, and by airship.

This game will keep you busy with about 30 hours of gameplay. Like most Final Fantasy games, your party of characters each has his or own unique abilities. You will always have the same four characters in your party. They game does offer a deep job system that lets you change their jobs at will. There are lots of jobs to choose from and more advanced jobs get unlocked as you play through the game.

Suggestions

Honestly this is a FULL GAME. I would buy this even if it was $30. Those complaining about the price need to get a job.  For half the price it’s an enhanced version of a Nintendo DS game that looks better and it’s on your iPhone!!

Conclusion

This is the best RPG experience on the iPhone PERIOD. I thought Eternal Legacy was good? This game blows it out of the water. Fans of the series will defiantly enjoy this one.  But casuals may get frustrated as this is not a casual RPG. AMAZING though really I’m so happy with it.
