Mega Mall Story Review: Kairosoft’s Best Game Yet, Tiny Tower Meets The Sims!

Mega-Mall-Story-Banner

Going into Mega Mall Story I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. When the game started out as a three floor mall, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do: build up, to the sides? There was a world of possibilities.

Mega Mall Story ($3.99: | FREE)

“Design a towering mall of mega proportions! Attract droves of customers and elevate yourself to 5-star status in this mall management simulation game! Add anything from fast food joints to sushi restaurants, stairs and elevators–even a heliport–all with a touch of the finger!”

Presentation

Luckily, the game molds you, locking certain heights until you “invest” in your mall, so it’s not overwhelming at first. The game goes beyond just your mall, going outside with subways, buses, etc. Overall, the quality is the same we’ve come to expect from Kairosoft games – good.

Controls

The game behaves like we’ve come to expect from most Kairosoft games – good, but not excellent. Most of the time the touch controls will work, but in some parts they’re oddly unresponsive. This isn’t a major problem, we do keep in mind that these games aren’t natively on iOS, but ported.

Gameplay

Like with most Kairosoft games, the point is to make it big. Like the other games, the game has two currencies – money, and hearts. You get hearts when customers interact with the mall and are pleased. You can use these to upgrade existing shops, and buy plans for new shops. As for the cash, well, you use it for what you expect: building more stores, re-stocking, investing, etc.

My favorite part is that the game goes beyond just the mall, you get to invest in the community which in return gives you a number of stuff. Lots of people come to your store – you level up. Become popular – a mob of people will come to your mall.

As well as time goes by, you have winter sales, summer sales, which will bring a lot of people to the game. There is no real way to loose the game, but it’s all about playing and expanding until you max out your mall. There’s a bit of everything when it comes to stores, as well as facilities. My only complain is there was no Apple store in sight, come on Kairosoft. ;)

Conclusion

Mega Mall Story is so far perhaps Kairosoft’s best, and most addictive game yet. It’s just starting out with a small mall, and blooming into a mega-mall that will get your OCD going and you won’t be able to stop.

And, as mentioned above, it is the most complete and immerse game that Kairosoft has shipped out. I’d totally recommend getting this, whether you’re a fan of the series or just like Kairosoft games (hey, I understand you).
