iPhone 5 Release Date and Rumors: New Photos of Logic Board Suggest A5 Processor

With all these rumors and leaked photos that are being posted online, the lines between the “iPhone 4S” and the iPhone 5 are getting blurry. AppleLeaks posts some new photos of what they claim is the logic board for the next-gen iPhone…

Although, they’re not sure if that is the iPhone 5 or the cheaper iPhone 4S. Comparing the pictures to the logic boards on the CDMA and GSM iPhone 4 models show that this new logic board has a similar form factor more similar to the CDMA iPhone 4, with a SIM-card in the board.

The large area on the front of the logic board is designed to house the main processor, suggested it’s designed for the A5 chip on the iPad 2, instead of the square A4 chip on the iPhone 4 and the original iPad. Apple has been expected to use the A5 on the iPhone 5 for some time, but no one knows whether they’d use it for the iPhone 4S model or keep it only on the iPhone 5.

The iPhone 5 is expected to be a “world-mode” phone, being able to run on both the GSM and CDMA networks. The iPhone 5 is expected to be released sometime in late September or October, and launch alongside iOS 5.
