There’s a reason we sort of lambasted (shyly) Minecraft – Pocket Edition . It was lacking a ton of features its PC counterpart have. We forgot however that Minecraft started out small and slowly got bigger. Looks like the same pattern is to be used here as well.
Based on the details posted on Mojang’s blog: “In the background a lot of stuff has changed to support the survival aspects of the game. You will see some neat looking animals and new blocks. Crafting won’t be in this update since we need to redesign the GUI for it and it will need some iteration and thinking.”
“But the great part is that the foundation for survival will be mostly done and we can throw out much more fun updates! Yay! And hopefully the progress of the updates will be much more faster. Oh, and of course some bug-fixing have been done too. Doors and fences will be in there it too!”
The studio is looking forward to submitting this technical/coding-wise update sometime in both Android and Apple App Store by February 8th. If the rest goes according to plan, we should see an update a couple days later. Though not feature packed, I appreciate that Mojang is trying to build a solid foundation using this update before they bring on the features.
