Here we are about a couple of months out from the supposed iPad 3 release date and thinking a quadcore processor is almost a sure thing. The Verge is reporting that the next gen iPad may not come with it after all:
“What is surprising, however, is that our sources say that the A6 will not be a quad-core chip, but will remain dual-core. We’ve previously heard that the device would have a quad-core CPU as well as an LTE cell radio on-board, but at least part of that story wasn’t accurate.”
Even though the processor won’t be a quadcore, the GPU will be improved thus finally allowing that long rumored retina display to happen. This processor per 9to5mac is codenamed S5L8945X. Since we’re getting so close to the product announcement, rumors will start heating up. Hold on tight!
