iPad 3 / iPad Mini Release Date News: Forget iPhone 5 Rumors, 7.85 Inch Displays Ready For Production

Those who want a smaller iPad display or still holding out for an iPad named iPad 3, you’re in luck! Amidst Apple TV and iPhone 5 rumors, iPad mini rumors seem to have been quietly gaining some traction. The latest report states that LCD suppliers have been certified and are ready to begin production.

Per 9t05Mac: “Taiwan-based publication Liberty Times (translated, via Macotakara) shared an interesting bit of information this evening about the rumored 7.85-inch “iPad Mini.” The publication reported that LG and AU Optronics were certified to supply the LCD panel for the iPad Mini.”

“Furthermore, it goes on to claim that both manufacturers are working to ship the panels for production and for a release sometime during the latter half of 2012. The target-shipping amount for the iPad Mini is said to reach 6 million (which was previously reported), but I think there would be a need for more due to the influx of holiday sales.”

The bad news is that to keep this iPad Mini at a lower cost, there will be no retina display. This means it’ll keep the original iPad’s resolution at 1024×768. Good news bad news folks. Will you consider getting a non-retina smaller iPad for a cheaper price?

Absolutely!  I would LOVE to get a smaller iPad, no matter what the resolution is used.

Definitely!  The only reason I never got an iPad is because it is too big for me. The Kindle Fire is the perfect size for my uses, but I would prefer an iPad. I hope this is true. I’m definitely getting something this year. If iPad releases a smaller size, I will get that. Otherwise I will get a Kindle Fire.

I already have an iPod Touch, which I love, but it’s too difficult to read with. An iPad mini would be perfect.

Retina display? Seriously? I have an IPad 3… or should I just say – the newest IPad (in addition to the first IPad) and NEVER ONCE have I noticed a difference in the display! They could have easily given me another IPad 1 when I purchased this new “Retina Display” model, AND I NEVE WOULD HAVE KNOWN THE DIFFERENCE! So will I be buying one with “lower resolution”? YOU BET! I’d just like to kick the crap out of the marketing “genius” who built the newest IPad, and sucked $975 dollars out of me for an essentially unneeded device which, aside from a camera or two, IS EXACTLY THE SAME (although not on paper) as the device which now yields a $300 price tag. IF THAT!

Hey I love the reviews on mobile device games. I always play them on the go. When I am home I like to play PC games and lately I have been really excited about The Elder Scrolls Online (TESO). Its going to be huge and its always nice to take a break for the great mobile device games.
