Surprise! An app you would expect not to work in a million years actually works. This morning an app called “Display Recorder”
slipped onto the AppStore promising to do what the name does, and it actually works.
Previously the ability to record your iOS display was limited to a Cydia app, which was also called “Display Recorder”.
The app allows you to export to YouTube or Camera Roll, adjust video and audio settings, and allows you to use audio picked up by the built-in mic. The way the app works is by taking a series of screenshots to compile into a video.
Apple doesn’t allow third-party screen capturing apps for even just screenshots. It is more than likely Apple will pull the app, but for now it’s available on the AppStore for $1.99. ![]()
