iPhone 5 News & Rumors: Leaked Pictures of Apple’s New Dock Connector

We keep hearing that the next generation iPhone will introduce a new, smaller dock connector from Apple, to replace the current 30-pin connector. So how does it look?

French website Nowherelse.fr has posted pictures of what appears to be the dock connector for the cable, which is shown next to the USB end, to give an idea of it’s size.

MacRumors was able to get a hold of iFixIt regarding the pins on the new connector:

Kyle Wiens of iFixit tells us the metal frame counts as a grounding pin, which means it’s effectively a 9-pin connector. There has been some debate about it being an 8-pin vs 9-pin port, and this could reconcile those different claims.

The french website is known for a poor record of leaks leading up to the launch of the original iPad, but has been sharing alleged photos of next generation iPhone parts all month. Those leaks, are believed to be correct, as they originate from Asian sites and are consisten with other leaks up to date.
