Surprise! Square Enix has announced that it will be releasing Final Fantasy Dimensions, a “new entry” into the Final Fantasy series for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad, will be released at the end of the month, on August 31st.

As pointed out by TouchArcade, Dimensions is a bit confusing, as it seems to be a re-worked port of Final Fantasy Legends.

Legends was an episodic series released for Japanese cell phones in 2010. No matter what though, RPG fans should be excited for Dimensions.

Final Fantasy Dimensions, an all-new entry in the Final Fantasy series first distributed on Japanase mobile phones and boasting a total of over one million downloads, is now available for your smartphone!

In addition to enhanced graphics and sound, this smartphone version also marks the title’s overseas debut.
