It’s been rumored to come out for well, at least since the first iPad launched but it looks like Microsoft is finally ready to release Microsoft Office for iOS. Microsoft’s Czech Unit spilled the details that it’ll release in March 2013.
Per Macrumors: ”The press release also mentions that Office 2013 will be made available to businesses in December, with a consumer launch scheduled for the end of February 2013. “Office 365 services and other Office products for mobile (phones and tablets) will be released from March 2013,” says Microsoft.”
Shortly after news spread like wildfire on the internet, Microsoft quickly (well not so much since of course they let the controversy linger for a little while) addressed the rumor through their PR head on Twitter no less:
The information shared by our Czech Republic subsidiary is not accurate. We have nothing further to share.
They also linked to The Verge‘s original article regarding the subject. If by now Microsoft still hasn’t come up with their iOS app, I don’t think they ever will. It’s too late in the game and it sounds like they’re focusing on their own line of tablets to compete with iPad. It doesn’t make much sense to give your competition any reason to woo their Microsoft Office loyalists…
