The much previewed arcade shooter from Chillingo and Traplight Games: The Hero ($1.99) finally arrives on the AppStore. It promises “lightning-fast arcade romp that sizzles with comic book style, sassy characters and superhuman gameplay.”
First impressions are actually good as this game offers sophisticated controls, graphics and tons of gameplay dynamics.
As Chillingo and Binary Mill prepare their upcoming shoot’em’up game Assault Squadron, they’ve gone ahead and sent us this cool looking trailer you can watch below:

Shoot Em Ups or rather SHMUP aren’t new to the AppStore, but of course, Chillingo must have one or two of them in store. That number will soon increase with the release of Assault Squadron:

We know it’s winter wonderland over at the East Coast for our US folks (stay safe by the way), but for us West Coasters Zombie Wonderland should do for now. Zombie Wonderland is a 3D zombie-tower defense hybrid to be published by Chillingo soon:
Zombie Wonderland is a fun, fast and engaging variation of tower defense in 3D for the iPhone, with strong elements of time management and survival horror. Well, without the horror part.
And you can cut a little slack on the time management too. It’s about shooting zombies, actually. The cute kind, as there is nothing more annoying than cute zombies.

Steam engine, pipes, gears, nuts and bolts, nuts and bolts. One more time now! I don’t know about you but if a puzzle game had us writing an original song, it must be good.
Chillingo and Lazy8 Studios’ Cogs is one the most frustratingly challenging puzzle games to ever hit the store. I say frustrating loosely as the game is so challenging it becomes fun and addicting. If you thought slider puzzles are getting boring, this game just gave the genre a much needed rattling!
We already know Minigore is the go to “casual” dual stick game for the iPhone but wait til you see what Chillingo’s got for this year!
This game is the actual realization and advancement of the dual stick action/survival genre. With great graphics, actual levels (and bosses), achievements and upticks in difficulty, it’s great that someone has finally realized the power of dual stick controls to put it to use in one epic action/adventure game.
