Ladies and gentlemen… coming from the complete left field, Doom 2 RPG iPhone Released: Where’d This Come From? has released an iPhone port of their well received mobile game, Doom 2 RPG. Coming from the people who brought us Wolfenstein RPG, this is quite promising.
The game is a turn-based take on the DOOM universe, and as the story goes, the forces of Hell have invaded our dimension once again, and only you can stop them from their ultimate goal of conquering Earth.
Much like my time spent with Wolfenstein RPG, this is the first time in this long running franchise’s history that I’ve really cared to get involved with the exploits of the main character.
The game is not without its issues, but I think the developers did an excellent job of making a game that makes sense for the given platform and plays pretty well indeed. I’d be more than willing to take on additional chapters that played out in a similar manner to this one.
Long before Brad Pitt even thought about hunting Nazis there was B.J. Blazkowicz. He wasn’t afraid to mow down the third reich and even kick around a German shepherd or two in the process.
While I dabbled around a bit with Wolfenstein 3D, I can’t say I was really a fan of the game. In all fairness, however, I did give Return To Castle Wolfenstein a chance when it came out… still not a fan. Now we have Wolfenstein RPG for the iPhone, a port of the popular cell phone game, and after more than 15 years, I can finally say that I’m a fan of B.J. and his Nazi exterminating habits.
