iPhone, AT&T Exclusive No More: The Rumor To End All Jan 27 Rumors

There’s been a lot of iPhone rumors for the 27th, some saying that the event will not only  be about the tablet, but also about the next generation iPhone. There’s been talks about 4G, LED flash, etc.

iphone_3g_27th

Goodbye AT&T?

Honestly I did not think they were even worth posting about since only the LED flash seems likely and it’s way too early for an iPhone refresh (unless Apple suprises us).

So what’s this rumor about? Carriers. Some sites are reporting that insiders from AT&T are saying that the exclusivity deal with AT&T for the iPhone ends January 27th!

Is there credibility to this? Well let’s see, the event was at first supposed to be on the 26th but then pushed to the 27th, shortly after Apple confirmed the event and sent out invites.

Adobe Pushes For iPhone Flash Harder, What Will Apple Do?

It seems that Apple disliking Flash isn’t going to stop them from establishing such a huge impact on the iPhone community. We are unaware whether Apple will put the concept to an end or not, but from what we are appraised; it’s coming. And what an affect it will make!

Flash is taking quite the the approach to the iPhone with 2 million Flash developers (I think it must come now). But whether Apple likes it or not, Adobe’s bursting in on the iPhone scene and is surely bringing the heat. Adobe announced in October that they were currently working (in beta) on the next generation of their flash apps, Creative Suite 5 which will include a “Packager for iPhone”.

This allows you to turn any Flash application into an iPhone app. So don’t see that specific “thing” on the iPhone? Creative Suite 5 will have you covered. (Microsoft is also coming out with a similar theory, Silverlight).

A World Without iPhone, Touch Or MacBook: Nokia Sure Would Love That

With Apple taking a huge chunk of the mobile/smart phone business with the company’s iPhone, it’s not surprising that one of their biggest rivals, Nokia, want to rain on their parade.

nokia-vs-apple

1.2.Fight!

F0r Nokia’s latest move in their litigation with Apple, they are asking the ITC to BAN all imports of iPhones, iPod Touch’s and MacBooks to the US citing Apple patent infringements as 9to5Mac relays:

Nokia claims Apple’s infringing patents with such catchy names as: “VCO with Programmable Output Power,” issued in 2004; “Mobile Communication Device and Related Construction Method,” issued in 2004; “Optimized Camera Sensor Architecture for a Mobile Telephone,” granted in 2005; “Communications Device with Touch Sensitive Screen,” from 2003; “Mobile Station with Touch Input Having Automatic Symbol Magnification Function,” issued in 2000; “Utilizing the Contents of a Message,” granted in 2001; and “User Interface Device,” from 2005.

The iPhone Vs Droid Saga :: Verizon: AT&T You Suck, AT&T: No You Suck!

We really try to leave of these kind of features off the site because it makes us feel very mashably-crunchy (ha!). But when Apple finally decided to join the “battle”, we finally decided to cover it: iPhone vs Droid, AT&T vs Verizon.

**Verizon To AT&T: Our 3G Is Bigger Than Yours**

Everything started with the video below when Verizon claimed AT&T had spotty 3G signal and smaller coverage. Though we think this is true, it’s good to note Verizon drew first blood against AT&T.

However the above video was really phase two of Verizon’s attack against the iPhone initially started with the Droid Does campaign rollout.

**AT&T Pulls Out Luke Wilson**

We still have memories of the Seinfeld-Microsoft epic failure ad series, so when we heard of AT&T-Luke Wilson we didn’t expect much. The video below is the first of the series showing Luke throwing postcards all over America signifying AT&T’s overall coverage.

This wasn’t really a rebuttal to Verizon’s 3G claim since, well, AT&T is really behind. The video isn’t as bad as the Seinfeld saga but is still laughable considering AT&T didn’t really do anything to defend itself.

Up next, Verizon really starts some serious sh1t for Apple to even consider releasing ads against this silly child’s play by these two gigantic companies.

Verizon’s Droid Launches ‘Attack’ Against iPhones: Really Funny… NOT!

Verizon still isn’t giving up (among many other that are trying to) on putting out the “iPhone-killer”. Their BlackBerry Storm didn’t do it so they move on to another product.

Days ahead before its rumored release (October 31), Verizon launches DroidDoes.com for their new “iPhone-killer”: Droid!

droid-1

They’re really doing it nastier this time by attacking the iPhones’ “weaknesses” such as this:

I know what you’re thinking: what exactly do they have against the iPhone, and hasn’t the “Storm” failed them enough? Apparently not!…

Smash The Computer iPhone? Try: Crazy Smashing Computers

Don’t try to hide it, we both know you’ve played it before. Smash The Computer!

What exactly do you do? Well, exactly just that: smash the computer. The short intro is, you’re on Windows (LOL) and it crashes on you. Extremely frustrated you must smash the damn computer (and so you go on). See?

smashcomputer_1

The game concept  is pretty perfect for iPhone. Sadly an official “port” has not been made yet. However this caught my eye. “Crazy Smashing Computers“.

It’s free, looks similar to it, (I’m not sure if this is official or a clone) so I thought why not. I must say I’m a bit disappointed though. Why?

NBA Live iPhone/iPod Touch: First Screens And Info Unveiled

So the NBA pre-season in full swing, but let’s not forget the Los Angeles Lakers are the reigning champs (lemme hear it!)!

And about couple of weeks before the regular season begins, and about a week later to the console’s actual release, EA Mobile releases the first screens and info for NBA Live iPhone/iPod Touch!

nba-live-iphone-pr-1

I’m a little at loss here. First, I know NBA Live swooped Dwight Howard for the cover (thus dunking screen), but does the graphics really look like THAT? I was expecting Madden 10 graphics and not Flick NBA-ish…

Tips For Upgrading To OS 3.0

So looking at Twitter, I see a lot of people painstakingly withstanding 1 hour or more of upgrading your devices. How to make it faster? Apple doesn’t have an app for that, but fortunately, I’m here to offer some handy tips.

Before Upgrade

  1. UPDATE iTUNES TO 8.2!!! I waited an hour or so waiting for iTunes to update to 8.2. I was stupid enough not to and of course, 3.0 needed 8.2
  2. UPDATE ALL YOUR APPS. Update all existing apps and games. You don’t want to add this as an extra step after OS 3.0.
  3. CREATE SOME 20-30% FREE SPACE. I un-synced my 2.47 GB music on my iPhone 8GB. Back up time will move significantly faster. You can try removing other stuff (like photos). If you decide to remove apps, remember data gets reset.
  4. BACK UP YOUR FRIGGIN DEVICE! If you don’t, prepare to lose your contacts, calendars, photos etc etc etc. You can force back up by right clicking your device name on iTunes (while connected) then clicking Back up. This might take time, but oh so worth it.
  5. MAKE SURE YOUR DEVICES ARE ALL PLUGGED IN CORRECTLY. You sure don’t want your laptop to die while you’re in the process of updating.
  6. CREATE 1 FREE ICON SPACE. Apple adds the Voice Memo icon. If you have all 9 pages used up, remove one app. If you don’t you’re going to find yourself moving pages and pages worth of apps because one icon from the first page gets move to the second. (Note: You can now use ELEVEN pages instead of 9!!!)
  7. Upgrade

Now that you have the new OS. What to do next?
